      Entrevista para Senior Software Engineer

      6 de abr de 2016
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Austin, TX

      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Visa Inc. (Austin, TX) en mar 2016

      Entrevista

Started with the HR calling me when she found my resume online somewhere. Informed me that they would have no more than 3 rounds of interview. 1 round would be telephonic with the Director 2. Hacker rank coding. 3. Coding. Initially she told me if the telephonic goes well they will schedule a hacker rank. Not very organized process. On a Friday evening she emails me I have schedule a telephonic round of interview for Monday at 2 PM and hope the director accepts. She never asked for my available times or schedules. No clue of what the job description looked like. No idea which team I would be interviewing with. Thats so unprofessional. In short I have no clue what to prepare for. As I was unwell that weekend I straight away denied to interview on Monday. rescheduled it to Wednesday. Immediately I get an email I can continue with hacker rank test but I have have to finish in 3 days only from Monday. I would not be given 5 days to complete because I rescheduled the first round and postponed by 2 days. Sounds so stupid. I managed to finish it. Till this point it looked the recruiter was in super hurry to interview and finish me. After the Hacker rank its been 3 weeks no idea where she is. She does not respond emails, phones and All I know is she is still checking on my Hacker rank results since almost 3 weeks. I hated the process.

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

Round 1: Telephonic - 30 minutes The director is late by 10 minutes, Learning that I have no Java work experience he puts me hold for 10 minutes to kill time and in the last 10 minutes he asks me some questions. At visa people are not interested if you have not work experience in Java. Even if you have worked on any other object oriented programming language people consider you are not fit to join Visa. Damn it I don't understand why did you even short list my profile when its clear from my resume I have no experience with J2EE in specific. This is the second similar experience with Visa I had this experience. I interviewed with them for Internship as well. Questions: What is OOP? What is Polymorphism What is inheritance What is a table, view, materialized view Difference between truncate and delete, table and view

      Entrevista

I went through the process twice for two separate applications, about 3–4 months apart. The steps were mainly LeetCode, system design, and cultural fit interviews. If you’re solid on most medium-level LeetCode problems, you should be fine. The process itself isn’t particularly difficult, but I think it’s mostly a numbers game since there are a lot of candidates competing. The negative part was the communication from HR: constant ghosting and timelines that were never respected. I only found out I had been rejected after my second follow-up asking for feedback, more than a month after the last interview, and only once I started sounding frustrated in my messages.
