The whole process took about two and a half months, and honestly was over the top. Firstly an online code test which was essentially Excel filtering and SQL. Secondly I then had to complete a coding challenge which they said took about 8-10 hours (with the classic line of "but some people like to do more"). I finished it in about 30 hours. Finally there was four interviews of which two were case studies, a code review (that requires a PowerPoint about your analysis) and then a "tell me about a time when" interview. After following this process I was promptly met with a rejection email and no feedback. Overall the people I met were nice but the amount of work involved to prepare for each stage made me worried about how inclusive the company might be, I know I couldn't manage these tasks on while working another job if I had children or someone to look after.

HR Round This was a standard recruiter conversation: Discussed my motivation for joining Capital One Salary expectations and notice period Overview of the company culture and benefits 2.Hiring Manager Round Focused on team leadership, alignment with business priorities, and how I’ve mentored others Asked about how I prioritize competing requests and handle ambiguity 3.Proctored assessment 4.Python project submission 5.Power Day (Final Round) 4 hours This is Capital One’s version of a “super day” with multiple back-to-back interviews. My Power Day included: 2 Case Interviews : Real-world business problem requiring a structured approach. You’re expected to ask clarifying questions, identify key metrics, and suggest a solution using data. Behavioral Interview: STAR-format questions focusing on leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management. Expect questions about challenging projects, decision-making, and influence. Technical Deep Dive: Review of Python code and project discussions — they asked about modeling choices, trade-offs, and how I handled messy data.
