From our Perth distribution centre and our Wangara manufacturing support facility (postforming and laminate pressing), we supply Laminam large-format porcelain surfaces, Hettich precision hardware, Fenix NTM nanotech decorative surfaces, specialty plywood products, and decorative laminates to commercial and residential customers across WA.
About the Role
Due to ongoing growth in our product portfolio, supplier network, and operational footprint, we have created a newly established Procurement Manager position. Reporting to the Operations Director and forming part of the Operations leadership team, you will own the cost-effective sourcing, timely availability, and quality control of materials, products, and operational supplies used across GBI’s distribution, warehousing, and manufacturing support operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic procurement & supplier management
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with GBI’s operational and commercial objectives
- Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers for laminates, porcelain surfaces, cabinet hardware, plywood products and operational supplies
- Lead supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, pricing reviews and long-term supply agreements
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply, product quality and competitive pricing
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, pricing movements and procurement risks
Inventory & supply chain coordination
- Oversee procurement planning and stock forecasting to support warehouse and manufacturing support operations
- Coordinate with warehouse, sales and operations teams to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise excess inventory or shortages
- Monitor inventory turnover, purchasing trends and supplier delivery performance
- Support procurement requirements of GBI’s Wangara postforming and laminate pressing facility
- Resolve supply chain issues relating to delays, shortages, damaged goods or supplier performance
Commercial & operational management
- Manage procurement budgets and drive cost-optimisation initiatives across the business
- Analyse market conditions, product pricing, freight costs and sourcing opportunities to improve procurement efficiency
- Develop procurement processes and supplier management practices to strengthen purchasing controls
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, commercial requirements and regulatory obligations
- Prepare procurement reports, supplier performance summaries and purchasing analysis for senior management
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain or commercial purchasing roles
- Proven experience managing supplier negotiations, procurement planning and inventory coordination within distribution, manufacturing, construction materials or related industries
- Demonstrated experience working with both domestic and international suppliers
- Strong understanding of procurement operations supporting warehouse and manufacturing activities
- Excellent commercial analysis, cost-control and contract management capability
- Proficiency in ERP and procurement management systems
- Strong communication, reporting and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across operations, sales, finance and warehouse teams
