      Entrevista

I did email and skype interview, and did a test, which they declined and provided no feedback even after I asked for it by email. This is a lack of respect for the candidate's time!!

      Entrevista

Worst experience I have ever had. RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. 1) HR Interview - So far so good 2) Coding assessment: You are required to build a simple rails app with some simple difficulties on calculating dates and ranges. This is fair and doesn't take more than ~4 hours. 3) Tech lead interview: Here is where things start going down the road. The interviewer is pretty rude, he asks a bunch of questions (some of them actually makes sense). Sometimes it is hard to understand even what he's trying to ask. Some questions feel very weird, like: "Why Rails use so much Inheritance instead of composition?". You get literally 0 feedback from him. 4) CEO Interview: This is also a technical interview. He ask you questions about system design and go over some scalability challenges where you are expected to use JS long polling. When he notices you are not very sure on a response, he pushes there a bit. At the end, they tell you that since you don't know everything (like ACID), they can offer a lower rate to hire you (they still make you an offer) Overall, it feels they are just looking to hire some cheap "yes sir" resources. I have had many interviews and this feels like an old school company that still don't know how to deal with people. It feels they are just looking for a programmer that can pick a ticket and get it done, more than a person to join a team.

Update: we note that the feedback above was changed after we gave the following response. I am personally very sorry if anyone has a bad experience in their evaluation process with Whitespectre. Treating people professionally and with respect is something that we hold in high regard - whether or not they end up as team members. It’s worth noting that we have very high standards in our evaluation and only make offers to ~2% of the people who enter our process. I believe in transparency and also understand that it can sometimes be hard to hear our feedback at the end of the process. If we believe that someone has potential, but needs more growth and personal development to reach the level we deem “Senior”, we will give that feedback, and, I believe in your case may discuss the opportunity to join the team at a “Mid” level with a set of steps/goals to reach “Senior”. It sounds like you didn’t appreciate our straightforwardness and were offended. I wish you all the best in finding somewhere you feel comfortable. Nick, CEO.
