Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Own Company (Englewood Cliffs, NJ) en sept 2020

      Entrevista

I applied online in mid-September and heard back from a company recruiter about a week later. She set up a one-on-one Zoom interview between me and a manager at the company. During the Zoom interview, the very first thing the manager asked me was "Why OwnBackup?" She then asked me to talk about myself and expand on my resume. There was plenty of time to ask her additional questions and the interview went smoothly. It probably helped that I was overly enthusiastic and super smiley throughout. After, I got a call from the same recruiter who told me I had to take an online assessment that would test my skills as a salesperson. It was in multiple-choice format and contained a lot of math problems. After submitting the assessment, I was informed that I passed and would be proceeding to the next part of the interview process. The second Zoom Interview was a mock sales pitch with the same manager who interviewed me before. I acted as an SDR at OwnBackup and she played a Salesforce admin at another company; my goal was to inform her about the product and ultimately set up a meeting with an Account Exec. Even though I was a bit nervous about the sales pitch, she said I did an excellent job and that I seemed very prepared. Afterwards, I talked to a team lead in the sales department - the conversation was generic, he mostly talked more about the role and day-to-day expectations. After passing two Zoom interviews, I was feeling pretty confident about getting the job. The manager said if all goes well, I'd interview with another higher up in the sales department and that would be it. I couldn't help but feel incredibly disappointed when I received a rejection email 2 days later. The bottom line is: it seemed like they wasted my time and failed to be transparent about why I didn't get the job. They chose to go with the generic line "After further thought, the OwnBackup team has selected candidates whom we believe most closely matches the job requirements of the position." If you want to get your hopes up for a position that doesn't even pay well, be my guest and apply.

I had an interview with HR and decided not to move forward. I don’t think they’re actually hiring for the BDM/BDR role. They just keep posting the job over and over again. I suppose HR needs to justify a reason to be there. Doesn’t make sense. It’s either that or a lot of turnover. I’m noticing because I’m following them on LinkedIn. Just know if they reach out to you, it’s a high probability you’re wasting your time.

Quick call to get to know me. Had to take a sales assessment test. Had another call to essentially pitch the product. After that had one more call and then received the offer. Everyone from the company was extremely professional and poignant. I never felt out of the loop.

First an HR professional spoke to me about the role and asked about my experience in a a zoom interview. The next zoom interview was with a hiring manager, who dove deeper into my experience. Finally was a conversation about sales with the sales team lead.
