My first interview was for a temporary job with no specific end date. I interviewed with the person who would be directly managing me and a person that did my job in the past and another person that would be in my group. With my past experience I got the job fairly easily. However, I did not receive any training in how to do my job function because the person that did my job in the past left to another group. My manager at the time had no idea how to do my role and I had to figure out how to do my job by piecing together what was going on. Also, my function was not the same as what I was told. After figuring out my role and doing it successfully I decided to apply for a job with a different group.
By socializing within the office I was able to get another interview for a permanent position within a different department fairly easily. This time around the interview and training process was very professional. The shortcoming of the first interview did not reflect on the company but more on the shortcomings of my manager. Also, it is very difficult for consultants or temps to fulfill their roles because either no one wants to do their role or no one knows how to do their role.
