As everyone knows, these big four firms are in the business of renting out humans. As such, they hold regular cattle calls on college campuses. But they often can't fill their quota through these open auditions, so they're forced to do "off-season" recruiting in the middle of the semesters to replenish their inventory of warm bodies. That's how I snagged an interview. I replied to an ad in mid-spring, and quickly got a call back from a desperate recruiter. She did a phone screen and then scheduled me for a one-day whirlwind through the office with a bunch of other recent graduates. Nothing new here. They herd you into a conference room to watch an indoctrination video and sit through some time-wasting speechifying. Then you break off for interviews with people of various ranks. Eager first-year staff chaperon you through the process and take you to lunch (they have to do this to score brownie points on their reviews). Some of the people you meet with are prepared with typical interview questions. Others are totally disengaged and would rather be doing anything else. The questions aren't hard or even very imaginative. Basically, if you don't have two heads and can answer in nods or grunts, they'll put your butt in a billable seat for as long as you can last.
