      Entrevista para Big Data Engineer

      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      New York, NY
      Sin ofertas
      Experiencia negativa

El proceso tomó 3 días. Acudí a una entrevista en EY (New York, NY) en mar 2019

      Entrevista

Contacted by hiring consultancy for online interview. Rescheduled twice due to miscommunication between hiring consultancy and interview panel. Interviewer was not qualified/experienced enough to interview any experienced candidate. Found it very rare that a candidate is offering his solutions as an almost compilable code and the interviewer is asking just the logic and then jumping to the next question without even getting to a discussion.

      Entrevista

The rockbottom of interviews... like seriously, i've been through good and bad interviews but this is just as low as it gets. I was contacted with one of their technical team, i found it weird that no HR or a recruiter was involved but anyway, he told me that he'll send me a take home assignment, which i find is a very good way to evaluate someone so i said ok. I recieved the assignment, the data was pretty big (around 2G), and i was supposed to run some spark work over it, i coded my part and emailed the guy saying i can't run such a big task on my laptop (i could but i really didn't wanna), and that it works just fine on a subset, he can run it himself and verify. his response really shocked me, he said that i need to run the whole set of tasks on the whole dataset and give him the results, and that i will be able to sign up for Google cloud or AWS and i'll get a gift card which i'll be able to use for this. My response was: why the hell would i do that? I've already used up my free credits, and even if i did why would i use them to run your work. P.S: I tried contacting their "privacy officer" to verify that this person is not sneaking around trying to stea other people's work and got no response, please beware of this company and don't share any code that they ask you to do for a "take home assignment"
