Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en Booking.com (Londres, Inglaterra) en abr 2013

      Entrevista

I submitted an application for the position in early March and wasn't called until four weeks later. The initial phone contact involved my answering simple questions (what do you think the role you applied for involves?) for about five minutes, after which I was invited for an 'assessment test' later that same week. The assessment test was professional. I dressed as for an interview, but that wasn't necessary. I was immediately ushered to a meeting room within the company's London office where I was given a laptop on which to complete well-designed questionaire testing my competencies. For example: "Given these pictures and this map, write a blurb for this hotel"; "Edit this text (for spelling mistakes, inconsistencies, formatting errors, etc)"; "Give some catchy headings", "Write a response to this hotel(client) for which you want to update their information". After the allotted period of time, we(six of us) were shown out and told that as they were assessing many applicants to 'please be patient, this will take a couple weeks". Given this last information, I planned a quick trip away for the very next week. Four days later I was called and told I'd performed 'very well' on the assessment and that they'd like to schedule an interview. Because they weren't able to schedule an interview before I went on my trip (and I did make myself available) and because they were apparently pressed for time, we agreed to schedule a phone interview from my hotel. Scheduling the interview turned out to be a nightmare, and the HR rep proved entirely incompetent at her position. It was cancelled twice at the last minute, and when finally scheduled, again, only at the last minute and HR had given the interviewees the wrong number etc. The interview went very well, lasting over an hour. I found myself leading the questioning at several points because the two interviewees were rather unprepared (and not at all intimidating). They did ask pointed questions like "if you were tasked with re-organizing information for your entire region, how would you go about this?" As you can see, the question itself is very vague, but the important thing was to convey that you are methodical and analytical. The same HR rep emailed two days requesting a face-to-face interview. I immediately responded with my availability. I then didn't hear anything from her again for 15 days. In the interim, as with the scheduling of the first phone interview, I had tried to reach her by email, phone (leaving voicemails), and via a colleague of her's email- all to no avail. This was also confusing because when we'd discussed timeframes in the interview, they'd suggested training would start that next week. When HR did finally write me back, she was completely nonplussed by the extended silence and requested yet another interview. I immediately responded and requested that she kindly confirm a date immediately- my email was promptly met with an 'out of the office' notice. I again tried to contact her, but no luck. I wrote back one more time asking that she confirm a date, and have never heard anything further from her. Very unprofessional.

I was contacted by the recruiter and asked to submit links to my portfolio. I was told it could take up to 3 days to hear back from her and that I shouldn't hesitate to contact her with any questions. I never heard back from her even though I sent several emails for feedback. This seems to be a trend this days unfortunately. It makes the company looks very bad though

      Entrevista

The first step was a task - answering three questions about how i see the platform and what improvements could be made to it to make the user experience better. The next step was a screening call from a recruiter, which lasted around 30 minutes and included general questions about myself and how I deal with different situations, but mostly around collaboration with colleagues and teamwork. The last step was a face to face interview at the local office I was going to be based at with my direct manager joining via video call as she was based in a different country.

Best question I got asked was at the end of the interview - how did you think you did? Do you think you ruined some answers?

      Entrevista

Slow and awful recruitment process they called me for the first interview after one month. The offices in Milan are surrounded by homeless, there is a glass wall in the waiting room and the homeless where literally washing themselves right in front of me, they had mattresses, cooking pans like they were actually living there. Put curtains if you can't get rid of them! this was such an unprofessional first impression. I met 3-4 people who didn't even bother introducing themselves and lead me to participate to an editing test which took me 1hour. I haven't hear back from them ever since and it has now been over a month. I have sent them an email and nobody ever bothered to reply. I will never send my CV to this company again and will not recommend it to any professional.
