I submitted an online application and 2 days later I was contacted to set up a phone interview. The interview times suggested by the recruiter were 5.30am and 7.30am EST. He called on time and the ice breaker question was “Isn’t it a bit early in the US at the moment?”. Then he proceeded with the explanation of how the phone interview would go. It turned out they were looking for a hardcore SQL programmer, so be aware of the misleading job description which states “Having any programming experience is an advantage.” I was told the role was 80% writing SQL queries, data extraction and 20% business insights & strategies. Go over your job responsibilities. How did you extract the data? Excel or SQL queries. How comfortable are you with writing SQL queries? What tool did you use for visualization? Did you provide business insights, strategy direction? Why do you want to move to Amsterdam? What type of work environment suits you best? What is your understanding of the Reporting Analyst role? When would you be available to relocate? What are you salary expectations?

It's a usual process with first screening by HR and 2 business interviews with stakeholders. Business interviews mainly revolve around case study and scenario questions, which is coming really close to real-life challenge so I really like it. Overall I feel great about the process, if it can go a bit quicker then there is no negative point at all.
