84 Lumber is continuing to expand its component manufacturing plants after acquiring a new facility in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, just northeast of Harrisburg. The company’s newest truss plant, at 1074 Alliance Park Drive, is a 29,016-square-foot building which sits on 8.8 acres. 84 Lumber acquired the facility, formerly Tri-County Truss, in the Lightstreet business park. The truss plant, which will primarily construct roof trusses, was needed to keep up with demand and market growth in eastern and central Pennsylvania. “This new facility has state-of-the-art, advanced MiTek robotic technology that allows the trusses to be built not just faster and more accurately, but, more importantly, safer and efficiently for our associates,” said Sean O’Connell, the general manager of the Bloomsburg truss plant. “This truss plant, which is the third in the state of Pennsylvania, and the sixth in 84 Lumber’s Mid-Atlantic region, has a laser system that guides the wood, and automation on the tables.” Operations started on Jan. 09, 2025, with 15 associates currently working at the truss plant. The company plans to hire a total of 30 associates before the end of 2025, and 50-60 associates in 2026. “84 Lumber has a fantastic ladder of opportunity program – and that includes our Production Manager trainee (PMT) program,” said O’Connell. The program is designed to prepare an apprentice in the components sector for a Production Manager position. During the 12-month training program, the PMT

84 Lumber is stepping up to assist a deserving family impacted by the Eaton wildfire in California by donating $25,000 to help them during this critical time. The donation was announced during a segment on ABC’s GMA3: What You Need to Know on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. The Williams family, a close-knit group of 17 relatives living within minutes of each other in the Altadena area, faced heartbreaking losses in the wildfire. Four of their homes were destroyed, and three others suffered extensive smoke, water, and fire damage, leaving them uninhabitable. Among the homes lost was a cherished family residence purchased by their grandmother in 1976. “As a company deeply rooted in community values, 84 Lumber is honored to support the Williams family as they navigate the aftermath of the fires,” said Jorge Espinoza, Western Divisional Vice President at 84 Lumber. “Their story is a powerful reminder of resilience and unity, and we’re committed to providing the resources and hope they need to recover and rebuild their lives.”

84 Lumber has recognized its two 2024 End-of-Year Team Headquarters winners. The company launched the award program in 2022 to recognize associates twice a year in two categories: the Business Excellence Award and the Rising Star Award. The Business Excellence Award recognizes an associate who has demonstrated leadership skills, achievement, growth, and success at 84 Lumber. This was awarded to Emily Patrick, 84 Lumber’s customer relations manager. Patrick joined the company in May 2021 and was promoted to her current role in December 2021. “Emily greets all customers with a pleasant, welcoming tone,” an associate wrote in their award nomination submission. “She inspires those around her, and her dedication provides an exceptional customer experience that keeps customers coming back.” The second honor, the Rising Star Award, recognizes up-and-coming associates at 84 Lumber. 84 Lumber is proud to announce its sponsorship of an acre of land in the soon-to-be developed Franco Harris Memorial Park in the heart of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Hoping to commemorate the legendary Pittsburgh Steelers player and community leader, a local nonprofit has started a campaign to build a 32-acre community park honoring Franco Harris. The park will be developed with parking, signage, trails, educational gardens, benches, tables, a pavilion, a small amphitheater, and a centrally located statue of Harris, featuring major donor recognition. According to Watchword Worldwide, a 501(c)(3) based out of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, former Pittsburgh Penguins player Mark Eaton’s father assisted the organization with acquiring the first 26 acres for the park. After Harris’ passing in December 2022, the nonprofit decided to turn the park into 32 acres, in honor of the legendary Steelers player’s iconic jersey number. Watchword Worldwide then created and registered the Franco Memorial Park as a nonprofit. Their goal is to enlist the assistance of at least 10 corporations to sponsor half of the 32 acres. Corporate sponsors will have naming rights in the park for its amenities, including two pavilions, a hillside amphitheater, a competition fitness course, information boards, among others. The Franco Harris Memorial Park then hopes to raise the remaining funds for the other 16 acres via public donations. 84 Lumber is the campaign’s first corporate sponsor.

The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an 80-foot Sitka spruce, is lighting up the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol during the 2024 holiday season. The tree, selected from a different national forest each year in a tradition that began in 1970, traveled more than 4200 miles from the Tongass National Forest in Alaska – America’s largest national forest – to reach the West Lawn. The U.S Forest Service searched for the perfect tree, evaluating the characteristics of individual trees in the Tongass. The tree’s journey included 11 stops, where people signed the truck’s banner with personal messages, from Wrangell, Alaska through Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Altoona, Iowa, as well as Dover Air Force Base and Joint Base Andrews. 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held building materials supplier, has been the presenting sponsor of what affectionately is known as “The People’s Tree” for three years. As part of its annual holiday celebration, 84 Lumber brought an early Christmas gift to Dover Air Force Base families by donating 84 Christmas trees during a private event held at Major George S. Welch Elementary School & Air Base Middle School. Holiday cheer also arrived at Joint Base Andrews where 84 Lumber also gifted 84 Christmas trees to military families as a small token of gratitude for their service and sacrifice before the tree’s last stop on its journey to Washington D.C.
