The company reached out to me because they found my ClearanceJobs profile and it matched their position really well. I spoke with a recruiter and he gave me some details but it seemed that the hiring manager didn’t really give him much more information than the job title and salary. I had an interview with the hiring manager and it went well so they said they would set up an introductory meeting with the program manager. I waited two weeks with no follow up. Then the recruiter texted me to set up the meeting. We agreed on a date and time for the following week and then I waited. I had told the recruiter that I had limited phone access and availability due to working in a SCIF. The day before the meeting, a different recruiter called me and left a new voicemail asking to schedule an interview. Once I was able to answer, I sent them the details of the original meeting. They never responded and they never called into the interview. Fast forward to the next day, the new recruiter called me and this is when I threw up the red flag (I’ve dealt with missed meetings or miscommunication in the past and it is what it is in the job process.). The recruiter interrupted me multiple times in the span of a couple of minutes. She clearly hadn’t checked her voicemail from my original response because she knew nothing of the original meeting. She also said “we have another candidate already that we really like, but wanted to give you a fair chance if you want it”. I’m sorry? Why waste my time? I started to ask a question, and she kept interrupting me. When she finished, I just told her I was no longer interested.
I know better than to work for a company that says things like that, and the lack of professionalism on display tells me what type of place this is. I’m not actively looking for a new position right now, but when I do I have much higher standards about how I should be treated and spoken to than this company has to offer.
