Just basic questions about the firm and how you fit.
As another person mentioned , they waste your time and I believe they are just trying to extract information from you.
They then mention as someone else stated, they have someone else already. I believe this firm needs to fix how it recruits.

The entire team was high-energy, very focused, and consistent in their knowledge of the industry. Team also functioned extremely well together, aware of where the process had moved to and clearly plugged in to most recent developments across the multiple conversations taking place.

Almost two months of interviewing. I did the initial phone screening that led to a written assignment (I spent about 10 hours on it), then a phone interview with the manager, then a 2 hour in person interview. The level of difficulty and the length of time that it took for an entry level job surpasses every other job I interviewed for. What made this overall experience negative was that in the end, the manager told me at the final interview that he didn't actually need to hire anyone and he'd wait until next year if he felt like it. His attitude turned rather sour and to do that in front of someone who put their heart and soul into the company for the past few months, was rather insulting. He kept implying that I did not truly understand that it was cold calling and I wouldn't like it....when in fact I did understand that as I am not an idiot and I absolutely wanted the job. He mentioned that he made a mistake with his last hire; well, I'm sorry that it made him so trigger shy but it in no way made it okay for him to act like this interview was harder on him than it was on me. The entire process was a waste of my time since he never planned on hiring me or even giving me a chance.
