There is a large discrepancy between what is said and what is actually done in the hiring process. The hiring process is excellent in the emailed brochures but erratic and messy in real life. I had three interviews (that took me two months) for the role that is considered executive in the firm. In the last interview with CIO Trading, Shipping, and Midstream and CIO Global Oil Trading and Analytics, I felt that the questions, the case studies, and the interview process didn't really address the current, modern challenges that this role implied, but sounded more like a standard corporate interview from the 2000s. I asked a few clarifying questions, and they confirmed my concerns.
In the end, they just ghosted me. I was shocked by such an attitude, which clearly contradicts BP's declared values and lacks basic respect for someone they thought could be an executive at the firm.
Based on my experience, I feel this is not the right organisation for those caring about innovation.
