      Entrevista

Based on my negative experiences and all the red flags listed below I ended up not going forward in the recruitment process. Unfortunately, in my personal experiences, the company doesn't feel inclusive to diverse people: specifically disabled, neurodivergent and older applicants. My experiences are listed below: -Red flag #1, I contacted the company via email for clarification for a job application and was told that somebody from corporate would get back to me, but they never did. -Red flag #2, I submitted my application during a virtual career fair. I was contacted for an interview via email by person A. I disclosed my disabilities and asked for reasonable accommodations to perform the interview. I didn't hear anything in return and person A ghosted me. Week or so later, I contacted a higher up in the department (person B), I mentioned what happened and that I requested disability accommodations, but person A never got back with me. Person B stated the department was overwhelmed with work and that's why person A never answered me. (Yet, Person A was able to make public posts on personal social media during that time.) -Red flag #3, During email conversations about the reasonable disability accommodations request for the interview, person A and person B insisted that I perform a video interview so Person A could observe me to ensure that nobody answered the interview questions for me. (Yet, they don't require that for non-disabled applicants via telephone interviews. How do they know somebody performing a telephone interview isn't getting someone else to answer their questions?) -Red flag #4, When I told them those accommodations wouldn't work and explained why they wouldn't work, person B was condescending and knowing I'm neurodivergent, treated me like I'm unintelligent and asked if I understood the modification of the reasonable accommodation request. -Red flag #5, For the first interview I was supposed to receive important information I needed for that interview via email. I waited 15 minutes for the information and for somebody to contact me to start the interview. Why were they late? They sent the information to the wrong email. -Red flag #6, During the follow up interview questions, they questioned my response about software systems that I have experience using. They claimed the systems that I mentioned didn't perform the specifications that they asked about, when they absolutely do. -Red flag #7, I'm self-employed. I have it listed on my resume and also listed it on the two/three(?) different applications that they required me to fill out. They wouldn't accept any reference that wasn't a supervisor. When I listed previous supervisors that were from over ten years ago, they questioned my use of providing those references and wanted new (recent) supervisor references. Which is a problem, since I'm self-employed. -Red Flag #8, They wanted to know the names of specific clients/businesses and contracts I worked with, even after I previously mentioned that I wasn't able to disclose that information due to agreements like confidentiality. *My advice to the company? Do better in the recruiting and interview stage. Don't create barriers that make it impossible or more difficult for disabled people, neurodivergent people or older people to obtain gainful employment with YRCI.
