      Entrevista

I interviewed for a BDR position in January 2023 and was quite disappointed with the unprofessionalism of the interviewer. In highlight: - Interviewer was nearly 10 minutes late - The interviewer was all over the place with questions and just simply didn't sound like she was prepared. Lots of filler words and she did not sound confident conducting the interview. - It was quite apparent she did not look at my resume prior to the meeting as I had to explain my entire work history in complete chronological order (this time could have been used to ask me behavioral questions to see if I would be the right fit) - She asked for her camera to remain off due to connection issues despite the call going seamlessly without lag (mine remained on) - Abruptly ended my interview due to other commitments in her calendar which didn't leave me a chance to ask questions (The interview lasted only 15 minutes) The most disappointing part was upon checking her LinkedIn, I found she is quite tenured in the recruitment industry. Yet, in spite of that, the interview had many areas of opportunity. Recommendations: - If you are going to be late, ask if it would be okay to reschedule. - To my knowledge (or at least in Canada), it is not okay to ask directly how much someone made in their last job. A more appropriate articulation of that sentence would be to ask what is my salary range or expectation. - Give your interviewers time to prepare so that they're not late to interviews or cut them short due to other commitments in their calendar.

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

      - Have you used our products before? - What was your salary at your last company? (I was shocked this was asked verbatim as opposed to asking what my salary range expectations are) - Why should I hire you?

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, it is truly valuable. It is disappointing to hear that the interview process fell short for you. We are deeply committed to ensure that each candidate has a smooth, seamless, and exceptional experience. On this occasion it appears that we may have dropped the ball and we are very sorry about this. The telephone interview is an exploratory conversation to run through your background and understand your interests in the position you have applied for. A behavioural/competency interview would not have been on the agenda as this typically takes place in the next stage of the process. These calls on average last 15-20 minutes and it is entirely optional to have the video camera on. It seems that this was not clearly communicated to you at the on-set, which we missed the mark on. Whilst we don’t tolerate tardiness, rarely on occasions; meetings can start later than the anticipated time. In future we will ensure there is an opportunity to re-schedule. Finally, discussing salary can often be a sensitive subject, but we like to offer full transparency on the salary & benefits to ensure expectations are managed well, and at times this can lead to a comparative conversation around compensation. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your feedback further, you can email me on kay.shah@xe.com Kind Regards
