We try to avoid bringing people in who aren't going to be right for the company or the role, there are times when that's not clear until the onsite interview. Any selection decision is going to be based on mutual fit and the interview process is designed to help determine fit as quickly and as accurately as possible. You're busy, we're busy, it just makes sense to use everyone's time effectively.
