Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en Wise

      Entrevista

Recruiter reached out. Had a SQL assessment on hackerrank. Was on the tough side. Got selected for the next round with a take home. The recruiter was pretty nice and helpful throughout. Had to present the take home in 20 - minute presentation. It was a theoretical problem so I included lots of scenarios and then recommendations on those scenarios. The people who took my interview were, quite frankly, pretty basic (not throwing shade but def true lol). One of them lectured me (previous to my presentation) that my answers were 'long' for coding round. LOL. And went ahead to ask why did I use a certain function (coding related), when majority candidates have used one type. Asking me about a round I have already cleared with another interviewer doesn't make sense. It paints a picture of bias and the interviewer definitely showed that even after - as when I explained my thought process they taunted that it is not something you should do. HAHAHAHA - IT S JUST A PLACEMENT which didn't make an ounce of diff to the code. These people need to chill! And if it would have been an honest and helpful feedback, I would have appreciated it. It looked like from the start one of the interviewers had in mind 'not to select' me and it felt the same throughout. Anyways, my presentation was amazing and I am not just saying that. They had all questions answered. So the same person then told me my presentation had everything and they didn't like that. It had a lot of text (again a theoretical problem what do you expect?). When I was revisiting this scenario to make sure i learn from this experience and where I might have gone wrong.. I did realize that if I had just made recommendations without context, I am pretty sure this person would have told me that my presentation lacks 'laying out thought process'. I have seen a bunch of such people thinking they know everything just 'cause they do everything by the 'book'. Or maybe have a bias towards someone and coming in the interview with mind made up not to select a certain 'kind'? Not putting someone down but pretty sure since it was a very rude exp for me :) And still looking for a team with an open mind and not just 'how things should be done' vibes. Cheers!

Had a call from HR and hiring manager. There’s a take home assessment afterwards to complete. Responded to that and was rejected afterwards. There was no follow up after that to explain the reason

Didn't really feel like I communicated with an actual human until the final interview, during which I wasn't given much opportunity to show my capabilities. Minimal feedback. Case study required a considerable amount of time to complete and everything felt automated. No clarification was given on any part of the process.

      Entrevista

Step 1: Recruiter Invitation I received a LinkedIn message from a Wise recruiter along the lines of: “Let’s chat and I’ll tell you why Wise will be your next best workplace.” Step 2: Initial Recruiter Call (30 min) Instead of an introduction to the role, team, or responsibilities, the recruiter focused almost entirely on questions about my past experience and even technical/analytical topics (e.g., A/B testing). No real information about the position was shared. Step 3: Home Assignment The next step was a take-home assignment. In most companies, at this stage, it’s usually a short SQL test (30 minutes, easy questions). Wise, however, sent a 4-hour assignment (their estimated time — in reality, it takes longer). Step 4: Submission & Silence After submitting my work, I received no confirmation that it was received, no proposal to present the results, no feedback session. Just silence. Step 5: Rejection Without Feedback A week later, I got a one-line rejection: “Thank you, but this time no.” I followed up asking for feedback — no reply. After escalating through a Wise employee, the recruiter finally responded another week later. The feedback listed things that were supposedly missing from my assignment — but those exact elements were in fact included. It felt like they skimmed my work in 10 seconds, after asking for 4+ hours of effort. The process came across as unprofessional and disrespectful to candidates’ time: • Lack of transparency about the role. • Disproportionate assignment workload. • No acknowledgment of submitted work. • Dismissive, inaccurate feedback.

Usual AB test questions: How do you determine the duration of an A/B test? What is a control group, and why is it important in A/B testing?
