Entrevista
I applied online, received an email about a week later for a phone interview. The phone interview was a recording, which was odd and it just seemed a little off. About 5 days later I received an email from the manager for the Green Bay campus, I set up an interview day and time with her. When I went in for my interview, the woman at the front desk was rather rude to me and didn't give me any information as to who would be coming out to meet me or where to wait. The only words she said to me were, "oh, okay." This was my first read flag that the first staff member I encountered was rude. After about 5 minutes of standing around, the manager came out and we went to her office for the interview. This is where it gets worse.
When I walked into her office there were 2 other woman sitting at the table, that is when I was informed it wasn't going to be a 1 on 1 interview. They each introduced themselves and took turn asking questions. The first woman seemed nice, the next woman was rather rude, didn't smile once, didn't laugh when I tried to lighten the mood with a joke about my last job, and she glared at me and looked me up and down when I walked in, so I felt intimidated from the start. The last woman seemed friendly, she was nice and didn't act like the second woman did. All of the questions they asked were pretty much the same as the phone interview, except this time you were talking with real people and not a recording. This is where I have an issue.
They said they loved my phone interview and the in person interview was basically the same at the phone interview, I answered all of the questions the same, so what changed that they turned me down for the job? I had all the necessary experience (and a ton of additional experience) they were looking for, I am a friendly person and I was professional the whole time? It took them over 2 weeks to reach out to me to let me know I didn't get the job and walking out I assumed I didn't get it. Just by the language and mannerisms the woman used at the end of the interview. They also failed to reply to a few emails I sent regarding my interview. I emailed the manager a week after my interview for a status update, but never received a response. After I got the rejection email, I sent a follow up email, just asking for critiques or anything I could have improved on in my interview that they didn't like... Again, I didn't receive a response. They're still hiring for this role 2 months later and I have no need to try and apply again after I was treated rudely by almost every employee I encountered.

What would your current or previous boss say is something you excel at and something you need to work on?
We really appreciate this feedback. No matter what the situation is, it’s very important to us that every visitor to WHS has a positive experience and we apologize that you experienced something less than that. We’d welcome the opportunity to learn more about the situation. If you’d be willing, could you email our HR manager directly at nklement@wihumane.org to provide us with additional feedback? Thank you.

The first stage is an automated phone interview with no retries, so you only get one take.
The in-person interview was pretty fun and in-depth. The interviewers were very upbeat and energetic and despite the process being 55 minutes it just flew by.
I was told the position needed to be filled immediately, and that I’d be contacted after everyone is interviewed. I tried to contact the Humane Society twice in the month that followed with no luck, and eventually a generic automated email that they would not be moving forward with my application.

Tell us about a time where a coworker and you did not see eye-to-eye. What happened, and how did you handle it?

The in-person interview is thorough, and provides an in-depth look into the Wisconsin Humane Society's values and overall mission. The staff are incredibly friendly and passionate. Even when discussing the harder questions about animal care, you could see how much the mission means to them. You need to have that same passion going into a position like this. While I did not accept the offer for reasons not related to the organization, I would in a heartbeat if things were different, go back.
