Recruiter screen, first round, case study. The case study seemed like a fishing expedition for free advice instead of an actual interview. The recruiters are very professional, but the interviewers were disengaged.

The interview process is as described in many of the other business side interviews here: recruiter, hiring manager, more interviews / take home, final executive. Unfortunately, my experience also mirrors the large number of (non-entry level, business-side) reviews on here that had a negative experience with Whatnot. While the recruiters were timely and professional, the hiring manager seemed disengaged and did not seem to know what they wanted out the position being interviewed for. The interview lacked structure and the questions lacked relevant focus. I also agree with the other reviews that there were indications that it was being treated as a fishing expedition for ideas rather than a serious interview. Rather than a traditional behavioral or STAR-type interview, there was a lot emphasis on specific solutions to specific problems that had been implemented at prior companies. I left my interview feeling like it was not a serious opportunity, and after reading similar reports on Glassdoor, I can see that I am not alone in that feeling. No feedback was given, but that is par for the course and it is hard to be upset about that.
