I had only a first phone interview with an HR rep. The interview consisted almost entirely of a checklist of software where she asked me to rate my experience on a scale of 1-10. A position like this is about much more than software, but she did not ask any more detailed questions about my analytical skills and background.

Entrevista
The first step was a phone screen with a HR recruiter who asked me to rate my skill with different software packages on a scale of 1-10. Step two was a quiz I had to complete and send back that asked me how I would solve different data science problems that might come up on the job, mostly focusing on the types of statistical/machine learning approaches I would use, and why. Step three was a 30-minute phone interview with the data science manager and a couple members of the team, which mostly focused on asking more in-depth follow-up questions about the answers I gave to the quiz, as well as some questions about how I had used similar techniques and the relevant software in the past. Step four was an in-person interview, where I was asked to give a short presentation to the entire team on a project I had done. Everyone asked questions about the project and asked me a few more general questions about my relevant experience, and I was given plenty of time to ask any questions I had. In general, I felt the interview process was very skill-focused without any "what are your greatest strengths"-type fluff questions.

Why did you choose a linear SVM classifier for this analysis?
Applied online. A HR recruiter called for an initial phone screen. The questions were standard. Showing that you have done your research about the company is important. The recruiter asked me to scale 1-10 about several of my skills. The process took about 20 minutes.
