Applied after being contacted by Uber recruiter. One hour Phone screen was actually a visit to the office. Discussed some programming topics and was given a CS question about sorting. Heard back after a couple of days and was invited to 6 hr marathon interview. One person asked a highly specific GIS map-data related coding question . I told them I did not have any knowledge of this area (not applying for a mapping position either.) He changed to another question about sorting. During another coding exercise, was asked to build a solution and follow their specifications. The Uber recruiter stated before the interview that following specifications was very important and not following them was where many applicants faltered. Post interview feedback stated my skills were not good because I did not implement X despite never being asked to do those things! Should not have listened to the recruiters advice after all. Overall a negative experience.
