The process was a thorough physical exam as well as a mental examination. The process on a whole took about four weeks, and I was fast tracked through the process. They provide you with drug test, and you could be entered into the delayed entry program (dep) if so desired. This program will possibly provide you with additional rank before shipment to basic training.
Based on your ASVAB score, you choose a career path that is best for you needs and wants. The Army can help you achieve your goal in any field. This will allow you to serve your time for your country and teach you a new valuable skill in the process.

Went to a recruiting station, said wanted to join...filled out some paperwork, got background checks done, pretty staightforward and a hold your hand along the way kind of deal (they wanted people back then)
Talking with an Army recruiter. He will help you find the best job that will fit your skills, history and preferences. The Army provided me with excellent opportunities for career advancement while I was in and it most definitely helped me outside of the military in seeking employment down the line.
