I was contacted by email a UPMC recruiter who asked me to give her a call, stating what days she would be in the office. I tried contacting her 4-5 times in a morning or afternoon, when I could arrange to do so, but always got her voicemail, and had to follow up with an email explaining this, asking for a specific date and time as an alternative. We went through this at least 3 times before she finally agreed to interview me at a pre-determined time. We wasted over a week because she did understand the value (and necessity for those currently employed elsewhere) of actually scheduling an interview. This was an immediate turn-off, and I was glad the interview process went no further.
Nearly all questions had to do with the mission of the hospital and my experience working with children. The job itself had little, if any, requirement to work with children directly, and prior experience doing so was not required according to the job posting. Yet, that was the focus of the recruiter's questions.
The doctors have busy schedules, so interviews took a while. The warmness and friendliness truly depend on the department. I interviewed with some departments that were just cold in demeaner, while others were warm, friendly, and kind.
Went well. They were very professional and answered the questions I had. I had an interview with 3 people and then I had a peer review with 2 other people to end the interview.
The interview process seemed to take forever but wasn't too harsh. Too many different interviews. First need to interview with HR. Then with the department director. Then with the department peer.
