      Entrevista

I had probably the most bizarre and uncomfortable interview of my life with Tobi. The CTO spoke with me for a "culture screen", where he asked me really odd questions off of a sheet. If you've ever applied to an entry-level position at like Target or Walmart as a teenager, where you had to fill out forms with degrading questions like "on a scale of 1-7, how likely are you to steal from the company?", it felt pretty similar. He was also very defensive when I asked questions about the company, and made some rude and presumptive comments about my background and interest in open-source software. The whole experience was so strange - I was really worried that I'd offended him somehow or something, but after reading the other experiences here, I realized that the company just wasn't the right fit for me. Thankfully, I had several other companies interested in me (and all of my other interviews went much smoother), so I felt comfortable ending the interview process with Tobi before it went any further.

Very unprofessional, never read the resume for the interview. The feedback/decision was based on the information that is already on the resume. It would have saved each other time/effort. The engineering seems to be chaos and could use strong technical leadership.

Me postulé a través de otra fuente. Acudí a una entrevista en Tobi (Oakland, CA) en sept 2013

      Entrevista

Applied online through Linked-in and got a call for a phone screen. The technical phone screen went fine questions regarding difference between Interface and Abstract class, Javascript questions related to Ajax, Database questions on Joins and Subqueries. I passed the technical phone screen and was called-in for an onsite interview. To my surprise this company has absolutely no idea how to conduct and on-site interview with candidates and the CTO is full of attitude. They put me in this 4x4' room with three people interviewing me at the same time. First of all they weren't sure what they wanted to ask and they themselves will fight over what questions they want to ask, and i am serious they will fight for minutes about what they want to ask. This totally threw me off and i had no idea what the hell is going on. They will ask me describe my previous project and than interrupt me rudely ask me a question and Mr. CTO will just come on the board and will start answering the question him-self and then ask me why you didn't do this. Sometimes decisions about using a particular technology for the project is made by the management and it may not be the best technology out there. When i start to answer than they will say you don't to explain the whole thing. Seriously i don't care how good of programmers they are but they seriously had very bad attitude. Seriously after a while i totally forgot everything and i) it was very hot in the room i could hardly breath ii) they were fighting over questions iii) rudely interrupting me. I seriously would never work with such people. Also they will rate you on a scale. Getting to not getting the offer is one things, but irrespective one can just behave properly and be nice to candidates who are spending their energy and time to come for the interview.
