Within two days of applying for a position, I was called by a recruiter and asked a few basic questions regarding my previous experience as a systems engineer. We spoke for about 30 minutes, ending with her informing me that I'll be contacted in the next few days if they're still interested. I was called back a week later to be told that they would like to schedule a phone interview with the director of systems engineering. The phone interview occurred several days later. I was essentially asked the same questions ask the initial phone call from the recruiter: previous experience, tasks/major accomplishments at my last job, general knowledge of the systems engineering process. Then we chatted casually about the area I would have to move to (out of state for me). The phone interview ended, again being told that they would call me back if interested. About a week later I was called to be flown in for an in person interview first by an HR representative, then the director of systems engineering, then a panel interview of three people each a functional manager of a different sector. Again asked previous experience, previous tasks/major accomplishments, general knowledge of systems engineering. Not at all intimidating, everyone was kind and enlightened. Lastly, I was given a very quick walkthrough of the campus. then caught a flight home later that day. A few days later I was called with a job offer and given two dates, a week apart, to start.
