First, the recruiter contacted me after I was referred by someone at Tesla. The interview was with just one person — the lead engineer on the team. He had a Ph.D. from a top university and was an expert in modeling power inverters and their associated losses. He asked me about my prior experience as an intern at Tesla, particularly about modeling the electronic and magnetic components of power electronics systems. Since my background is primarily in thermal and mechanical aspects, my responses didn’t align well with what he was looking for, and I was ultimately rejected.
