Entrevista
I applied online through the Tesco website. Filled out the typical form asking about previous experience, right to work etc. Answered a short questionnaire with questions focused on customer interactions or problems. Pick the answer that focuses on the customer and giving them the best experience and you'll be fine.
A few days later I got a call asking me to come in for an interview on a Saturday. They'd tried to contact me beforehand but I had just bought a new phone and didn't get any calls or texts from them, if I had I would have been invited to a group interview the day before. I'd applied to a different branch of Tesco but the guy on the phone seemed keen to get me working at his branch, not insulting the other Tesco store but hyping his up as a better experience. He explained it'd be a one-to-one interview and then they'd get me on the shop floor to see how I interacted with customers.
Turned up on the day and had a one-to-one interview with one of the store managers. It was simple enough, just asked to talk about myself and any experience I had in dealing with certain situations. You can relate it to anything; past work experience, uni, school or home life. Doesn't matter as long as it's relevant and you can articulate it well. Just make eye contact and smile a lot and you'll be grand. After that I shadowed one of the duty managers behind the tills and saw how they did things. Pretty interesting how it all works. Then we walked about the shop floor as he restocked stuff and had a chat. They're looking to see how you interact with people and if you're a good fit for the team. Again just smile and be friendly and you'll be fine. I was told they had a few more interviews to go but that they'd let me know soon if I was successful or not. Went home and maybe 1, 2 hours later got a call saying they wanted to offer me a position. The job's working in the bakery area instead of customer service. It's not what I applied for but I'm happy to do it if they think I'd be a good fit.

It was a face to face interview with many behavioural based questions that asked about my experiences, problem solving skills, teamwork, and adaptability, and how I handle challenging situations in working environments.
