Applied on-line.
Recieved an email to take a pre-employment timed typing test (3 minutes to type a letter) and a policy and procudre test (17 minutes to answer 23 questions based on policies and procedures provided) Note: At the end of the test no results will be given on how you did.
The next day recieved results from the test, an HR representative contaced me about my results which were competetive. I was scheduled for a phone interview for the following week.
The lady I spoke with in the phone interview called at the time it was scheduled. She ran down the job description with me and went over my resume. She then asked me several questions (tell me about yourself? why do you want to work for State Farm? tell me about a time you had a disagreement with your supervisor, what was the situation and what was the outcome? tell me about a time when your normal work schedule was interupted, what was the situation and what was the outcome? tell me about a time when you had to deal with a unhappy customer , what was the situation and what was the outcome?) After the interview questions the lady who interviewed me stated that she would forward my application to the hiring managers for review. The phone interview lasted about 20 minutes.
2 months later (yea thats right, 2 months) I was contacted by the HR department for a panel interview. Panel interview consisted of 3 hiring managers and lasted about 20 minutes. They were very kind and seemed sincere. They asked some of the same questions that the lady who interviewed me over the phone asked. (tell us about yourself? tell us about a time you had to deal with a unpset customer, what was the situation and what was the outcome? tell us about a time where you had to deal with dispute between co-workers at the job, what was the situation and what was the outcome? tell us about a difficult descision you had to make while at work, what was the situation and what was the outcome, what were some of the alternatives you looked at before making the descision?) After the questions I was given a rundown of the job and was asked if I would need any special accomindation while completing the task of the job. I was then asked if I had any questions or closing remarks. The hiring manager who walked me out of the conference room told me that I would hear something in about 7 - 14 days.
Two days later I was contacted by HR and was offered contingent employment, after a satisfactory results on a background and drug screen. The background check consisted of a Driver License check, Arrest history, Employment verification, Education verification. I was sent to Quest Diganostics for the drug screen ( a urine test, you have 72 hours to take the drug test once you submit requried forms consenting to the background check. Note: State Farm stopped checking your credit for this position about a year ago, according to the lady I had the phone interview with.
Two days after I took my drug test, I was contacted by HR and she stated that I met State Farm's employment standards and was offered a comfirmation of employment. I was given a start date and a email was sent confirming my salary and where to report to on my first day. I gladly accepted the position.
