Competency based questions asked by store manager. On job experience working with existing team. Had to prepare and lead a coffee tasting of two different coffees and a food pairing going educational facts and a sales technique to offer the coffees to the customer including add ons and upselling other coffees. It was very much experience based.

Phone interview with a recruiter who expects STAR style answers. The questions are pretty standard and easy to find online, so prep isn’t hard. Honestly, the toughest part, if you’re already an internal employee, is getting the interview in the first place. You really have to show your managers that you’re serious about moving into the role.

For an external hire, pretty normal for an interview. For an internal hire, they basically want you to answer as if you were a robot. They want you to answer by telling a story in the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
