I applied for the Data Analyst role through a referral. After that, I received a message to schedule a recruiter call, but the scheduling link was confusing because it did not show the time zone (EST or PT), which made it difficult to pick the correct time.
On the day of the recruiter round, I waited for almost two hours, but the recruiter did not join. I sent an email, but I did not receive any response. About four hours later, the recruiter called me directly for the interview. During the call, the audio quality was poor and the recruiter’s voice kept breaking. I mentioned this problem, but nothing was done to fix it. The recruiter asked me 4–5 questions based on my résumé and told me I would receive an update by the following Wednesday at the latest.
When I followed up through email, I was informed that the recruiter was going to be out of office for 10 days and that I should reach out to a senior recruiter instead. After contacting the senior recruiter, they replied that my application was still being evaluated. The next day, the senior recruiter also went on leave for a week and asked me to reach out to another recruiter. At this point, I felt stuck in a loop with no clear communication.
After two weeks of waiting, I finally received an email saying that my résumé was not selected because it did not match the business needs. I do not understand why my résumé was shortlisted for the recruiter round and why I was interviewed if it did not meet the business requirements. Overall, the experience was confusing, unorganized, and felt like a complete waste of time.
