I had an hour long phone interview with a member of the HR department. They didn't seem to have a clear sense of the position they were hiring for, and were unable to answer some targeted questions about the job responsibilities. They seemed more concerned with understanding how well you know SoulCycle's brand over your ability to lead this growing function. I used to be an avid SoulCycle rider so I didn't have issues with that line of questioning, but found the focus on them to be somewhat of a red flag. Overall though, I thought it was a good interview and not that difficult. I then emailed twice to follow up on next steps. Once, the HR person wrote back and promised a decision by end of week, yet I never heard anything and that was over a month ago now. It's not that hard to close the loop, especially if you want top-tier candidates to consider your fitness company seriously.
