      Entrevista

Contacted by help desk personnel because a support ticket was created by the application. Appointment was set. The interviewer was late because they misread their calendar. Everything was completely scripted and I was asked a list of questions that can be found in a plethora of places on the internet. Very little customization of questions. Once I started working through questions that I had regarding the interviewers profile on a professional social media web site, they turned very defensive and at several points got offensive. Interview ended with the interviewer giving me a lecture.

      Entrevista

The interview process for Snaptech IT generously provides candidates a good opportunity to identify mismanagement, unprofessional behavior, and toxic workplace environments before being tricked into an underpaid and overworked position. The interview process consists of 3 interviews (2 virtual and one in-person). The first interview is a "culture fit" interview and this was conducted very professionally. The second interview is a technical interview and also followed a very professional and industry-standard process. I was asked about technologies I work with and that Snaptech uses and how comfortable I was with those technologies. The third (in-person tribunal type) interview however is a very non-structured (read chaotic), unprofessional, and embarrassing process. This interview began with an awkward walk through the premises past a sad scene of barely touched and hours-old pizzas (my first hint something was wrong). The interview was then delayed another 10 minutes as interview team (that included technical personnel) was unable to get the teleconferencing equipment working. Once the interview finally began and introductions were made the unprofessional behavior began. Immediately I was berated for my resume's 'red flags' that had not been brought up in either of the previous interviews. After answering a couple questions, the 'red flags' comment was retracted and we moved on to "technical questions". I was able to answer the questions and prove my technical ability but this was obviously not enough for one member of the interview who began to devolve into asking questions more akin to technical trivia than real world scenarios. Some of these questions included identifying ports of particular services were obviously geared at tripping a candidate up rather than assessing conceptual understanding. Finally after exhausting any technical questions (and going off-script to field these questions) a final attempt to throw me off was made. I was asked a very unprofessional question that depending on the answer could open a company up to accusations of discriminatory hiring practices. I was asked "what is the most dissapointed you have ever been?". Not only does this question fail to stay on topic for the relevant job but also is specifically designed to focus on a candidates worst experiences rather than allowing them to highlight their strengths. The interview process up until the final interview was very normal and professional but the final interview revealed the truth behind the scenes at Snaptech that the environment is toxic and designed to beat workers down into accepting substandard industry pay and toxic working conditions. I caution anyone looking into working at Snaptech to stay vigilant against negging techniques designed to make you feel like you have to accept a job with low pay and bad working conditions. This was hands down the most unprofessional experience I have had with any organization.
