I placed a resume and filled in an application online for a seasonal position at almost every free standing location in southern California. Out of those 10 i applied for only 2 locations called me back. I got my first call back 3 days after posting my resume and was offered a group interview. I interviewed with 4 other girls besides myself. Dress very professionally, preferably black slacks/pencil skirt with a clean top and blazer/cardigan. Do your makeup! I cannot stress this enough, even if you dont have much experience, that can be taught its the effort they want to see. Eyebrows, lip color, blush and if you can some fake lashes. Dress to impress. The interview was about 45 minutes with the manager and the education leader. Do your research! Know your brands and if you dont have much makeup experience stress your customer service or retail jobs. Try to always focus your answers on customer service, client retention and strong teamwork communication skills. They asked about 6 questions and each person had to answer. Make your answers unique and stand out. Always remain positive and be outgoing. They want to see your personality, and smile! Once the interview was over I was anxious for 2 days and received an offer for a color cast member right off the bat. No second interview. So im very fortunate for that. Seasonal hiring is the best option if you have minimal experience, and need to get your foot in the door to try and be a all year hire. The all year hiring process is much more difficult and rigorous so always try seasonal first and dont get discouraged! it took me 3 years to finally get hired even as a seasonal with Sephora, and I am a licensed cosmetologist.

The hiring process, overall, took just under a month. I applied online and called the store to speak with the store manager a few times, and we scheduled an interview. In the interview, I spoke with the store manager and the skincare lead each for about 30 minutes. Overall, the process was extremely relaxed, and I don't recall any structured situational questions. The SM was more about just having a conversation with me and making me feel comfortable, but the skincare lead tightened in a bit more on questions about my previous experience and why I wanted to leave my current place of work. They wanted to get a feel for my personality, and explained a lot about the company to me. I felt as if the whole process was a double sided interview, and they loved talking on behalf of their company for their accomplishments. After their explanations of how the company is run, I knew I wanted to work here!

I had a group interview on 150 Broadway in New York and I believe I did a fantastic job. After the interview was over the store director ask for our resume and contact referrals, in which I provided. We were all told we would be receiving a call or email to let us know if we got the job or not this past Monday. So my interview was last week and Monday has past and I did not receive a call or email, I actually decided to call the store director for a follow up and the cast members said she wasn't there. I called another time and asked for her and this time I was placed on hold for a long time until I hung up. I believe that is very unprofessional for the store director to give a specific day they'll contact you and then don't. I really would like to work in Sephora and I have since been applying to other locations. I just would like a chance just like the store director was given a chance. I will continue to stay positive. I would love to be interviewed and hired because I have the drive and passion for it. May another store director give me an opportunity.
