Got a phone interview through a recruiter talking directly to the hiring manager, and I thought it was a joke-- per job description the role is in Risk and a big chunk of its responsibilities is analytics, which is a good match to me, but the hiring manager said she actually expects candidates from marketing or some other customer-oriented functions and the current focus is model building. Then she read out my resume over the phone and showed lack of interests about my work experience or education because I didn't have any hands-on modeling experience -- yes she let me know that, and didn't even bother asking any tech questions to test my knowledge. At that point I was thinking to myself-- why would she want an interview then and why am I wasting my time?
Then she talked about how she used to manage 30+ people in her previous role and her vision of building another 30plus-people team. And through our "conversation" i learnt that she's got only one person at the moment working on one logistic model and her budget allows only 6 more for the year....
