The process was pretty straightforward. I had an initial phone screen doing TDD with the interviewer writing the tests. After that there was a take home assignment which took me roughly 6 hours to complete. It wasn't too difficult. Make sure to document all your decisions well - trade offs, things you would do differently with more time, etc. Shortly after I submitted my solution, I received an invite to an onsite. The onsite was 3 hrs long in which I met various members of the team. I felt I did well in the first 2 interviews (design and implement) and gelled well with the team members. In the last interview with the hiring manager, we dug into personal technical philosophies and it was becoming a bit clear that we had quite a few disagreements. From what I learned, Rover has a pretty unique tech stack and a strongly preferred way of approaching software development. A few days later, I received a call to inform me they were not moving forward with an offer. I wasn't too surprised by this based on how the last onsite round went. I asked for feedback and the recruiter stated a reason on my "high level design decisions". I was disappointed in the ambiguous feedback given since I had dedicated so much time to the process. If they could be a bit more transparent on feedback, I would probably mark this review as positive.
It was a very good interview we had a nice conversation and honestly super good vibes. Super sweet interviewer and I highly recommend to apply here if you can because the overall environment is healthy.
Quick HR call to get ti know you, and then a technical challenge with their Engineer where you had to approach several challenges (string manipulations) that had to pass pre-written tests
