First step was a group activity. Initially each person introduced themselves (education, experience, goals, etc). Next we were given out a short story full of ambiguities to answers questions about, individually, in groups of three, then form a single consensus to compare to an official set of responses. Afterwards, individually, we were asked to write essays about the open-source software market. Second interview was individual, with a senior solutions architect, the team manager and an HR rep. We had to prepare a presentation about a business case and answer varied questions.

The first interview with HR went very well. It was professional, friendly, and well structured. The second round was technical and required a prepared presentation, which I appreciated as a fair way to assess skills. However, the final behavioral interview with two managers was disappointing. It lasted 45 minutes longer than scheduled, and both interviewers appeared disengaged and dismissive throughout. I was told to expect feedback within two weeks but received none. After following up a month later, I got an instant rejection through an automated and impersonal email. I spent over five hours preparing and interviewing, and a simple update or short feedback call would have shown basic respect for candidates. Please treat applicants as people, not numbers. Poor communication and lack of empathy leave a lasting negative impression. After this experience, I would never apply for Red Hat again and would not recommend it to any of my peers.
