      The process started off with a quick Teams interview with a member of their hiring staff. This was roughly an hour and a half. I could tell she was really trying to sell the company and it worked until I got to the interview with the hiring manager. The next staff member I interviewed with had only been with the company for around three months herself, had just got back from PTO, and was not mentally present. She was clearly focused on catching up from her time off. She audibily and visibly couldn't care less about this interview. I felt like I was not being heard. I was just a number. The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes. There was no time to ask any questions about the company or the role. She seemed in hurry to get off the call. This was from the beginning of the call to the very end. There is no way you can get a sense of one's qualifications and experience from a 20 minute phone call. There was definitely something about me I think she just didn't like that had nothing to do with my qualifications. Perhaps that I am a man (100% female team), black, or middle-aged - who knows?? Needless to say I did not move on and it took a week to get that rejection. I had to reach out. A quick heads-up to the Talent person: you can talk up the company all you want. The hiring process will expose what the company is really like. How people are treated during the hiring process is how they will be treated when actually working there.
