I was surprised by how quick the process was. Once a recruiter reached out to me a phone screen was scheduled. During the phone screen, I was asked to talk about my portfolio. From there, I was schedule for an onsite interview where I'd meet a number of designers, a product manager and a software engineer. Overall, a good experience.

First was a usual phone screening (just resume/project stuff), then a design challenge. The design challenge was poorly constructed when compared to other places I'd interviewed; it was literally "load up something on our site and redesign it." No guidance, goals, user data, nothing. So I redesigned a part of their system that looked outdated. A few days later I got a generic response; no feedback from the team, no presentation, nothing. The only contact I had was with a recruiter, I never talked to a single person who actually knew anything about UX.
This seems to be a trend across companies that are falling behind; they don't bother to learn what UX is or its place in a company. A wireframe mockup is much different from a task flow, or a high fidelity mockup, or a rapid-prototype. Discerning what you want candidates to make for you is how you better access them, not by having them just guess and then shutting them down with no feedback.
Glad I didn't get the job. If this is how they treat interviewees, it's clear the company has no respect for UX in general (and it shows in their current interfaces).
