I interviewed for a CAM position in Dublin. My screening call was really awkward and unprofessional. I’m not sure if it’s because the recruiter is new to the company or what, but I want to believe that he doesn’t represent Pinterest's values. I’ve had a couple of interviews with Big Tech companies, and usually, they are very straightforward regarding salary. I understand that they may ask for a range, but in this case, he asked for my actual salary. To be honest, I’m not sure if this is even legal.
Secondly, during the interview, he was just asking random questions, and it was clear that he didn’t understand how advertising works. Finally, Pinterest encourages candidates to highlight their transferable skills, but in this case, he was overly focused on the fact that my current position is in FMCG, completely ignoring my past experience in industries mentioned in the job description.
I’m still in shock. Pinterest is a company I’ve held in high esteem, but now I just don’t know what to think. I’m extremely disappointed.
