Pretty ridiculous waste of my time! I was not looking for a job; their recruiter called me. I told her I was not interested in a lateral move. She told me that the job was posted as a lateral move, but that they were considering me 'high potential' and that it would a management opportunity. This interested me, so I took a phone call appointment with the hiring manager. He told me the same story and that I should come in to meet with him. I accepted. After a two hour interview, he offered me the lateral move and told me he would never hire me as a manager without management experience. Hello?! I told you from minute one that I would never consider a lateral move into your firm! Thanks for wasting hours of my life that I can never get back!
