It may have been a little unique for me since I was recommended by a friend that I had worked for before, yet I still had to go through a very rigorous background check because the company is a financial institution. It started with a phone interview with required interviewing by two people on the team I would be hired for. Then I needed to meet with someone at a managerial level, and the vice president of my large department wanted to meet me as well. (The VP part may not be consistent across all departments, but he prefers to meet everyone who may come in under his organization.)
