      Entrevista

Wow - my experience as almost verbatim that of another person who posted a review here. Connected via a recruiter from Neo4J. Loved the idea of the company. Had fantastic calls with a large number of team members, all of whom seemed engaged, smart and energetic. I shared some ideas with the hiring manager of where I saw this role's potential and how this function could help them grow. Great chemistry with everyone. Then - all of a sudden - the stock "We're going in a different direction" email came. At least I wasn't as jerked around as the other poster here, who received a verbal job offer which was then rescinded. But boy oh boy this business has some organizational issues to fix. Good luck to whomever ends up in this role.

We understand how nerve-racking the interview process is for candidates. We usually have multiple candidates for each role, so the process takes longer than one might think. In this case, after much interviewing, we made an offer to a candidate. If they hadn't accepted it, we would have made an offer to you.

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. Acudí a una entrevista en Neo4j en may 2021

      Entrevista

Neo4J reached out to me about a position they were looking to fill and I was excited about the opportunity after learning more about it. I went through the entire interview process, speaking to the recruiter a few times, and then 5 other members of the team I would potentially be joining, including an additional meeting with one. Everyone was lovely and I enjoyed all of my conversations. Towards the end of the process, before an offer was even extended to me, I was asked when I would be able to start (which is pretty standard), and was also told that the org would like for me to join fairly soon because of an event coming up. It was clear to me that the day-to-day team was excited for me to join and thought that I would be. My references were called, who reported back and said they were lovely conversations. After my last convo with the org, I was congratulated on the getting the job, my salary was confirmed and benefits were even sent my way. I was told that my official offer letter would come the following week and was even given tips on how to resign from my current position. Thank goodness I am the professional that I am and did not resign from my current position - I was waiting for the official offer letter, which never came. I received an email instead telling me that they are moving in a different direction. After all of that, I didn't even receive a phone call to let me know that they are rescinding my verbal offer. It was also clear that the team was not on the same page when it came to who they wanted to fill this position. After a month long interview process - I would have expected a u-turn towards the beginning or even middle of the interview process, not after I had received a verbal offer. In my experience, it seems leadership and the lack of communication about who and what they're looking for was the catalyst for this mess. I normally don't write company reviews- this is actually my first one, but I felt that this needs to be highlighted for anyone thinking about joining. This was such a bizarre experience and because I don't want someone who is not where I am in my career to go through something like this and potentially lose TWO jobs at the same time, I felt the need to highlight what I went through. I had the most disappointing experience with Neo4J but wish them all the best.

We are sorry your process went the way it did and we've learned quite a lot. You are right about a disconnect appearing late in the process as to what the ideal candidate looks like. We made a change in our process to eliminate this problem going forward. This was not a personal decision about you, but rather high-level direction about our hiring goal. Thank you for considering Neo4j and we wish you well.
