I had a recruiter call, after which my resume was supposed to go to a hiring manager. The recruiter ghosted me, even though I was referred by a friend who talked up this particular recruiter. A month and a half later I got an automated email saying the position was filled.

Absolutely terrible process. Immature recruiter and set of interviewers.
I had no issues with the first 2 rounds of interviews even though the recruiter was demeaning and pushy. From the time I was contacted, recruiter gave off the impression they were doing me a big favor by allowing me to interview for the role. Recruiter kept pestering for 2 take home projects less than 1 week after my first interview. Not considering I had other obligations on my current job.
Things got messy during the 3rd interview. I met with 4 interviewers at the same time. I have never met such condescending, passive aggressive and immature professionals during an interview my entire career. One even dropped an f-bomb during the interview. They kept asking about topics, skills and questions that were not on the job role/description. Rambled on and on when I asked them “straight to the point” questions about the role. Mid way into the session I had to ask what the purpose of the interview was. I was told it was to see if I had the necessary skills for the job. This was after 2 interviews and 2 take home projects!!!
Apart from these there were attitudes and actions portrayed during the interview that connoted bias. I won’t go into that. I will take the high road on that part. Most importantly, from a professional standpoint I felt my time was wasted on purpose.
You don’t need 3 interviews and 2 projects to know if a candidate is a fit for an entry level role.
Mozilla, I won’t be interviewing for future roles at your organization, using any of your products and definitely unfollowing on key social media channels.
We’re very disappointed to read about your experience interviewing. Our top priority for our recruiting process is to welcome our candidates, not to pester them (and certainly not to convey any bias). We are actively looking at all elements of our recruiting process across all roles at the company to ensure candidates do not have this kind of experience. Those elements include debiasing workshops for recruiters and hiring managers as well as participation in a Hiring for Diversity Equity and Decolonization in the Creative Industries course. Each hiring team has also been tasked with creating an interview portfolio for each stage of the interview process clearly outlining the goal of each interview and what each interviewer will be responsible for. While you experience is disappointing, we are hoping the steps we have enacted at the end of this year and continue to grow in 2021 will rectify the feelings and experiences you encountered in the future. If you’re able to reach out with more information that may be helpful for this effort, please reach us at recruiting@mozilla.com
30 minute phone screen with interviewer. Standard rejection e-mail about moving forward with other candidates. Asked for some feedback as I was surprised to be rejected at this stage, request was completely ignored. They then reposted the job, so clearly not moving forward with other candidates. Highly disrespectful process to job seeker.
Good afternoon, and thank you for taking the time to review our interview process! I am sorry that your request was ignored, we do try to make an effort to respond at every step of the way. If you are willing to share more details about your experience, please reach out to cstpierre@mozilla.com so that I may investigate further.
