During my application to the graduate school I indicated I was interested in a graduate research assistantship and the program coordinator of the department I was applying to emailed me. I had an in person interview with around 5 faculty members. A few days later I received an offer.

I interview with multiple other applicants at the same time. It felt more like a discussion than a job interview. The interviewer did a really great job of putting the applicants at ease. Then, two weeks later you would get a decision about hiring via email.
