Prompt and responsive at the beginning, initial phone screen was slightly more than the typical check if you have a pulse. Interview with hiring manager started late, liked his approach, was frank and seemingly up-front about things, but neither knew I dug deeper and learned they recently laid off some people in the department, whereas I was told that they can't keep up with business (which in a way is true if you're laying off people). Not enough time to get all of my questions in. Job description in text made no mention of travel, both in interviews made it clear there was travel. Pay was on lower end of okay sans travel, but with travel it's too low. Fulfilled recruiter request for work samples, then no communication for a couple of weeks, then the cold, boilerplate "thanks but no thanks" email. Follow-up email about what went wrong went unanswered.
