The entire interview process was helpful and positive - lots of good feedback, helpful answers to my questions - until the final round. During the final interview, I was told that based on my experience, I might be a good fit for another department. However, that department was not hiring. After five rounds of interviews, hearing from the final interviewer that I should consider another department that was not hiring seemed like such a flat, out-of-touch way to speak to a candidate. This company does very impressive work and clearly has strong leadership, but pondering a fictional job for a candidate while in conversation with them feels disrespectful to their work and the entire job-seeking process.
