Applied for a Manager position. Interviewed with HR and then the hiring manager who told me I would be a better fit for another role. I applied for 2nd high level manager position and was interviewed many times for that role. Made it to the final 2 candidates. Leadership picked the other candidate because he had a prior relationship with that hiring manager at a different company they both previously worked for. HR reached out and told me they would like me to apply for 3rd position (also high level manager in same dept) that they thought would be a better fit. I asked if I would have to go through the entire process again and was assured that I would not. I would just need to meet with the hiring manager and could reasonably expect an offer after that. This was not the case. Went through interview cycle again and did not get an offer. They picked an internal candidate. Long and frustrating experience. Got the impression I was strung along to meet a requirement for number of external candidates even though they had no intention of offering me a position. Entire process took 6 months (Feb-July) and i had over a dozen interviews with 10 people.
