In May 2020, I was contacted on LinkedIn with some basic questions about my experience. Soon a screening test was scheduled, if cleared, I then had to go through 5 interviews with the team members. The screening test was on codility with 3 mid leveled search trees and string manipulation questions. Soon I received a mail from the recruiter that I cleared the screening test and now my first face-to-face screening interview was set up with a team member. The interviewer was very friendly and was able to provide me info on how Microsoft works and what it means to work at Microsoft. He asked me to solve a problem and talk about the solution I derived. Post that soon I was informed that I cleared the round and in few days my final 4 interviews we setup. They comprise tech coding challenges & system design with a bunch of questions on my past experience. My final interview was with the hiring manager who asked me some behavioral questions. I was able to provide a solution for all of the questions put in front of me except the last tech round where I took more time and could not finish my solution in the given time. All these were virtual interviews because of COVID. Overall the experience was good and interviewers were friendly except one case where the interviewer didn't even turn on his webcam and spoke too little. Most of the time I felt like I'm talking to a bot. It did shake up my confidence a bit but rest all was very professional. After all the interviews I was told that I will be contacted by my recruiter with feedback, which really never happened. After 2 weeks of no news, I contacted my recruiter and then received a notification from the portal that I didn't make it. My overall experience was really nice except that fact in the case of rejection the company does even bother to let the person (with whom they have spent so much of time) know that he didn't make it. Maybe it's the way it works.
