The phone screen was as generic as generic could get. In fact when the interviewer asked me a generic question "Why are you looking for a job" and I answered and then expounded on my answer she was thrown off and literally said "You answered my 3rd question so let me go back to my 2nd". Uh..ok. At the end of our interview she said she would be recommending me for the next phase and I should hear from her by the beginning of the following week. That makes complete sense as to why I got a generic "Thanks but no thanks" email less than 24 hours later. Hey Metromile...why don't you hire some better recruiters?

There seemed to be some miscommunication between the recruiters. One recruiter reached out, I responded, then another emailed several days later asking if I had received a response from the first recruiter (I hadn't). When time came for the first round of phone interviews, I was told I'd be speaking to another EA, but then was called by the recruiter instead with no advance warning or acknowledgment that the switch had taken place. No big deal, but a bit of a surprise.
During the first interview, the recruiter sounded distracted; I think they were on speaker phone, as there was a lot of background noise and it was difficult to hear them. Some of the responses I got to my questions were vague or a bit bizarre, very informal.
The second round of video interviews went well and I felt a good connection with my interviewer. Ultimately, they moved forward with a candidate further along in the process, which I don't fault them for.
